Linear Pay Homage To Vintage Horror Films In New Single 'Icarus'
Earlier this year, we introduced you to a band by the name of Linear. Hailing from Newcastle, NSW, the four piece brought a gritty, melodic post-hardcore sound on 'Portrait of Ghosts', channelling some huge sounds akin to that of post-hardcore legends, Silverstein.
The Newy boys are now back with their second single this year and it sounds like Linear wanna keep us on our toes here. Proving their musical diversity here, 'Icarus' sees the band take on a melodic pop punk persona, with high energy punk riffs driving the heart of the song.
But wait, there's more! Linear have accompanied the song with quite the amusing music video. Clocking in at just under nine minutes, the short film if you will, pays homage to campy horror films of the 1970s, in a very tongue in cheek way. It's as weird and quirky as Steve Carell's series, The Office, yet it also ties into the whole Halloween theme this weekend. While it's nowhere near as glamorous as Michael Jackson's epic extended music video, 'Thriller', the boys' creativity here definitely receives our stamp of approval. The band share their experience:
“It’s important for us during these unpredictable times to find a way to keep the creative cycle going. And if it’s something we have to do ourselves then we will do what it takes.”
