I Prevail Bring Back The Cleans for New Melodic Song 'Into Hell'

After getting tongues wagging and dividing the fanbase with their ferocious last single 'Violent Nature', Detroit metalcore kings I Prevail have brought the tension back down to earth with a softer, more palatable approach with their latest offering.
'Into Hell' kicks off with a welcoming synth x guitar combo (ARCHITECTS/Bad Omens-esque) before Eric Vanlerberghe opens wide and presents a beautiful, melodic vocal delivery we've not heard from the frontman before. It's alluring enough to grab your attention, but may leave you wanting more. As the song progresses Eric opens up in the chorus as he belts out the words "You can drag me through the fire / throw me into the well / you are the closest thing to heaven / I'll follow you into hell / follow you into hell" which are catchy as fuck and will have you singing along in unison. The song continues ebbing and flowing like your a-typical radio rock track with no real standout moments to give it that extra oomph! There are some added screams/yells towards the start of the third act which are kept in the background rather than the forefront like previous releases.
'Into Hell' is a snapshot of where the band are heading now they've parted ways with Brian Burkheiser. For me, a long term fan, I feel this song sounds like a leftover from ARCHITECTS' latest album and lacks that signature I Prevail sound which made them a household name. That's not to say it's not a good song... it is good, just not great or ground breaking.
As the boys gear up for what appears to be a new album cycle, we're going to be met with overwhelming feelings with each release because it's going to be so different to what they've been doing over the past decade. We can embrace the change and welcome this new era with open arms, or we may find ourselves leaning into the back catalogues to get our fix.
