Electric Callboy Unleash the Goods on New Track 'Revery'

Everyone's favourite Hardstyle pumping, costume bearing, party thumping Germans Electric Callboy are keeping their Tekkno Train running at full speed with their brand new single ‘Revery’. The follow up to their first release of the new era ‘Elevator Operator’ the now 5 piece have doubled down in Melodic Mayhem and taken a step into darker territory that hasn’t been as crossed in the longest time.
‘Revery’ is full of all the immense and expected tropes that Electric Callboy have built an undeniable foundation on in their 15 year career. As young voices lure you in over a ticking beat, it isn’t long before Kevin Ratajczak barrels in and the heaviness consumes in not just a musical manner. “I wanna float away / Leave my body behind / When I deep dive right into a world left behind” you automatically know that the following tune is off the beaten path of the band's comedic stylings. What isn’t off the path is a truly memorable and emphatic chorus delivery from Nico Sallach only driving home further the personal grief ‘Revery’. But if you fear that the addition of emotion takes away from the ability to throw down, do not fear.
Not sacrificing that signature sound, Callboy hits hard and alternates the downcast lyrical matter with enough speaker pumping bounce that will shake the ever living darkness out of any nightmare. Playing hand in hand with the accompanying music video (That feels more like a Stranger Things episode as opposed to a film clip) sees the nightmares that we design can come to life and engulf our environments. But even a visually battered and bruised Electric Callboy complete with a hooded mysterious figure on the drums (more on that later) the metaphorical delivery of how music can be our biggest saviour and turn a psychotic landscape into a realm we are more familiar with. Even at their most serious, the delivery of a visually eye-catching performance is never lost on Callboy. The modern kings of the music video.
The song is the first release since drummer David-Karl Friedrich announced his departure from the band on April 29th. Wasting no time in losing steam, the boys announced former Sum 41 drummer Frank Zummo will join them for their summer festival circuit across the UK and Europe - following on from Frank saving the band's career-defining performances on Good Things Festival 2024 when they were promoted to second headliner after Sum 41 pulled out due to frontman Deryck Whibley sadly battling another pneumonia bout down under.
The lads stopped by WoS HQ at GTF Sydney to discuss Frank saving the day - amongst other cheekiness.
Who could possibly be stepping up and onto the drum throne permanently for Callboy? Has Zummo found a new band to carry on his hard hitting fantasies with? Is it another famous face or perhaps a local musician from Deutschland? With two singles for the next phase of the band now out to the world, when could the album possibly be dropping?
Stay tuned with Wall Of Sound for all updates on our favourite German party men.
