Deficit Unleash Nu-Metal Mayhem On 'FINAL BOSS' & Announce New EP

At the start of the year, we unveiled our 30 Indie Aussie Core Sick List featuring a plethora of unsigned acts we believed were going to take the Australian heavy music scene by storm and one of those featured acts was Sydneysiders Deficit who have been carving a name for themselves with their ferocious and abrasive approach to metal.
Fast forward to the year's end and the band have just announced their new DEATHSTYLE EP is set for release on November 21 and to celebrate they dropped a new video for latest single 'FINAL BOSS' which will certainly get tongues wagging this morning.
Just try to stop yourself from two-stepping to this beat as the band bellows their way back into your lives with a fast, furious and at times manic array of musicianship that's setting them up for the big time. The down-tuned guitars will result in instant stank face and it won't be long before you bobbing your head along to the beat.
As for the song's themes and inspiration, the band shares it's about perseverance and standing strong when it feels like the world is against.
"It's about channeling the pain of growing up in environments that were suffocating, dysfunctional, and unsafe and transforming that struggle into strength. It's about the turmoil of trying to rise when everything around you seems built to hold you down, and the defiance it takes to turn those hardships into stepping stones. And it’s about refusing to be defined by the hand you were dealt and instead choosing to forge your own path, and staying focused on what it is you want in life through sheer strength of will. The "FINAL BOSS" is all of that portrayed as one singular foe that you have spent your entire life building and training yourself to overcome."
The band's EP is set to shake up the scene as they introduce their own genre to the mix, explaining the release is an amalgamation of their efforts and pioneering of their own genre instead of following the flock.
"DEATHSTYLE is the very embodiment of Deficit's sound... "
Death'" refers to our roots in Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and Deathcore, while "Style" captures the groove, catchiness, and swagger that define our identity.
It’s the definition of Deficit's own unique genre."
With the already impressive single 'FYA' feat Kublai Khan TX out and receiving spins, it won't be long before the rest of this EP makes it's way into your daily rotation.
Catch Deficit supporting Fit For A King and Boundaries alongside Harroway on January 29 at Crowbar Sydney and expect to see more of them throughout 2026 and beyond.
