Let's admit it, we've been blessed this year with a bountiful plethora of on-stage cameo moments which further enhance the concert experience ten-fold, but none as special as last night's final stop on ARCHITECTS Australian East Coast tour.
From the get-go, frontman Sam Carter spoke about the significance of the venue they wrapped up their three-date run in, Brisbane's infamous Riverstage, where ARCHITECTS made their Australian debut supporting Parkway Drive and August Burns Red all the way back in 2009; only this time, the boys from Brighton were up the other end of the pecking order, finally headlining the prestigious 9,500 capacity venue.
During the evening, Sam made many references to that tour and how Parkway Drive gave them a leg-up on that tour, which they've forever been grateful for since... and so you can imagine the pandemonium that set in when the band tore into 2021 track 'Impermanence' from ninth album For Those That Wish to Exist and none other than the king of the mosh, Winston McCall, strolled on stage for the first-ever live rendition of their collaborative track on Aussie soil.
AND IT WAS EPIC.
16 years after that first tour, ARCHITECTS had their full circle moment and were joined by one of the members of the band that helped with their launch in Australia, gutturals and all. The surprise cameo sent fans into a frenzy, especially those in the moshpit, which was an unrelenting force of nature from start to finish.
The surprise cameo marks the pairs second ever live performance of the song, with the first being back in 2023 at Graspop in Belgium, but last night's rendition hit closer to home, not just for the fans, but ARCHITECTS as a unit.
Relive the bedlam below and get to a gig, you never know who's going to pop up at the next one.
If you missed it, uppercut yourself.
