Underøath have been such a solid force in our post-hardcore and modern rock and roll lives. More recently, we had the five-piece evolve into their Voyeurist era from early last year and swiftly moved forward since then with new single 'Let Go' a few months ago.
As we hit the mid-point of 2023, the band from Tampa, Florida have released another new single, this one called 'Lifeline (Drowning)'. Unclear yet whether Underøath are gearing up for an EP/LP or whether they're playing the singles game. Either way - headphones on, let's check this out.
Spencer Chamberlain sings on top of ambient vocals with an atmosphere that incrementally builds to a soft crescendo balancing their distorted rock grooves with a maturing melody that maintains the softer yet pleasing texture. The three-minute single delivers a well-rounded breakdown that fits with the rest of 'Lifeline (Drowning)' and ends with grace.
