Introducing: Peur feat. Current & Former Members Of Invent Animate Benjamin English & Keaton Goldwire

Throughout last year, leaked images of two of Invent Animate’s founding members, vocalist Benjamin English, and guitarist Keaton Goldwire collaborating in the studio in new music sparked a surge of excitement in all of us here at WoS HQ.

In the wake of their stellar first two studio albums titled Everchanger and Stillworld, English departed Invent Animate in early 2018, citing the toll of constant touring on his mental health, saying that the passion and fire that once drove him had diminished. He needed time to find that drive once again while spending time at home in Texas, USA with his family and friends.
Fast forward seven years to the present day, English has seemingly reignited the spark he once longed. After years of growth and evolution, both personally and artistically, he has announced his new project, Peur, a name which translates from French to mean 'Fear' in English. This new chapter not only marks a bold step forward for English but also reunites him with longtime friend and collaborator Keaton Goldwire, who continues to hold a prominent role as a member of Invent Animate. Together, they promise to explore new sonic landscapes and emotional depths, signalling a revitalised partnership and an exciting direction for this fresh venture.
Through Australian record label UNFD, the pair have released their debut track titled ‘Fire Cleanse’, which has adopted the skills of Invent Animate drummer Brody Taylor Smith, who remains an unofficial member of Peur at this stage. The track itself is a chaotic whirlwind of instrumentals that represents a cleansing process, or purge of emotions, creating a cinematic flair that is reminiscent of the styles heard in the early releases of Invent Animate, with a seemingly surprising influence from Swedish djent act Vildhjarta. The first taste of English's vocals after all these years is as satisfying as scratching an itch you haven’t quite been able to reach for far too long.
With this debut offering from Peur being the first move English has made in the music world in seven years, we are almost certain that he has more tricks up his sleeve. What’s next, you ask? An EP? An Album? A one-off show? A tour?... Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait a little while longer until that is revealed. But for now, we can rejoice in Benjamin English’s comeback, bringing his signature sound with renewed power and his shared vision with lifelong friend, Goldwire, by spinning ‘Fire Cleanse’ on repeat.
