We are now only one fortnight away from Metallica's 72 Seasons arriving worldwide. The biggest heavy metal band on the planet release their eleventh record on April 14, 2023 via Blackened Recordings and we've had a pretty fair share of singles so far to get a feel of where they're heading with it. The giants have shared ‘Lux Æterna‘, ‘Screaming Suicide‘ and also ‘If Darkness Had A Son‘.

Today the title-track is here and it's surely going to be the most interesting, particularly as the album opener. With Motörhead styled speed-riffs for the first minute or so, this Metallica single - like 'If Darkness Had A Son' is extremely nostalgic of the 2008 Death Magnetic era, particularly in James Hetfield's vocal style. The eight-minute track sees the band remain in overdrive, setting you up for the head-bang of a lifetime. Guitarist Kirk Hammett gives us some lovely stand-out licks, and overall this one just seems to hit right.

Metallica‘s M72 world tour will be kicking off very soon, however we're still keeping the dream alive of some Australian dates. Maybe? Please? Pretty please? If you're keeping your hopes high like us, it's worth jumping into the rumour mill for old time's sake.
