It’s a great time to be a Holding Absence fan, and if you’re not already one, it's time to jump on the fast-moving bandwagon– you don’t want to be left behind. The Welsh rock crew have released ‘Scissors’ from their upcoming album, The Noble Art Of Self Destruction, out August 25 via SharpTone Records.
First, we were given the emotive 'Crooked Melody', the bold and beautiful 'False Dawn’ and then the cinematic 'Honey Moon'. Now the band is getting heavier and faster on the latest offering, ‘Scissors’. Honestly, we’re almost not worthy.
The tempo of this song is energised from the first instrumental refrains frontman and Lucas Woodland’s fantastic pipes taking front and centre straight away, as usual. The instrumentals in Holding Absence’s songs are always top-notch, but the drumming in this song also takes centre stage. We also get some incredible menacing guitar riffage in the bridge backed by pounding drums and the heaviest vocals we have heard on any of these singles.
With four brilliant songs released from this album so far, it's safe to say that this band know what they’re doing. Their songwriting formula and talent are well-honed, and this album will be big. You should already be a fan, but if you’re not, you only have a few weeks to get on board and excited for the album's release. Based purely on just these four singles, this album will make it into the top releases for the year for many people – including me!
