Sydney's BLOOM Unveil New Music Video For 'Daylight'

The big news last week from Greyscale Records camp was that they signed Sydney's BLOOM to their roster and revealed their In Passing EP was set for release on October 9th. The news continues with the band unveiling their music video for 'Daylight' today and a lil Q&A they've done with Greyscale to give fans (new and old) a look into their lives!

On 'Daylight', the band said it's about:

Daylight is written about our anxiety around losing our loved ones. We know that life isn't guaranteed, and wanted to express how we worry we won’t have enough time with the people we care about, and the acceptance of the fact that no matter when they pass it will never BE enough, that’s the sad part about loss. We tried to really encapsulate that emotion and the unrest around never knowing when will be the last time you see someone before they’re taken, so let the people in your life know you love them and stop holding back while you still have the option.

Recording In Passing:

It was a really great experience and we loved working with CV (Christopher Vernon). He creates an environment that allows you to become fully immersed with the recording process without the pressure that can come while recording. We probably spent over 50 hours playing Black Ops on an old PS3 set up in the room, and spent countless times laughing so hard it hurt. Without CV, we wouldn’t have matured our sound in certain directions and his ability to bring out the best in whatever we bring to the studio makes him practically an extended Bloom member. We got to take our time re-writing and making changes - and as it was interstate, we were able to treat it as a holiday that brought us even closer together. We poured a lot of time & energy into this release, and we are dying to get back down to Melbourne as soon as we can to do it all over again.

The title track “In Passing”, no question asked. This song is extremely special to all of us, and there’s a lot of story attached to it. We barely had any direction for the song, and brought down bits and pieces that we wanted to mash together - we knew the sound we wanted, but had no idea how to achieve it. Funnily enough, when we were doing vocal scratch takes CV had to go to band prac, and some of the other boys had to head back to the AirBnB they were all staying at, so Oliver, Jarod and myself stayed back at the studio and got to tweak and mess around with the track and we just had fun with it! We loved the song so much we wanted it to be a single, but felt it didn’t do it justice taking it out of the context of the full EP. We hope everyone loves it as much as we do.
