New Found Glory
The Station, Sunshine Coast QLD
December 9, 2025
Support: LATE 90s
Is there any greater time of the year than Good Things Festival and the plethora of side shows the event brings? There is truly never a dull night- even if that means a gig with the pop-punk godfather's on a humble Tuesday night. Lining up tightly around the Sunshine Coast's Station venue, fans arrived early to snag the best view of the proceedings, holding with them an unmissable nostalgic energy and palpable excitement. Tonight, New Found Glory would be treating their most die-hard fans with an intimate and refreshing presentation of their sound- almost eight years in the making for Australian fans! Parents and kids in tow, this gig was a reminder of the unification of music, and that it's never too early, or late, to get your pop-punk on!
Opening the night was Perth's own, Late 90s. This band has been quite spread across the map this year, holding down the duties of opening up for some of our biggest international visitors, including Neck Deep. Lathered in a nostalgic flair and cultivating the perfect balance fun, Tony Hawk Pro Skater visuals demanded your attention as the band sprawled across the stage- this is what the genre is all about. Despite a few issues (which were acknowledged in jest), Late 90s powered through with an energy fitting for such a night, and a charming charisma to match. Taking the audience through the tribulations of a working band and members not being able to get time off for the gig of a lifetime, reminders of the scope of our music scene were plastered throughout the venue, doubling down to an assertion of just how important our support is. And it seems this was reciprocated, as we have never seen the venue so packed for a support slot here before! With almost a room full of new fans acquired, Late 90s certainly got the place warm!
After some catchy belters already ensuring the crowds vocal chords were warm and in unison, a Bluey themed introduction welcomed the bouncing pioneers of pop-punk to the stage. It took vocalist, Jordan Pundik, merely two songs before he lunged himself into the crowd, submerging into the fans energy, extending high fives and heart warming interactions that would last a lifetime in the memory of those hugging the barricade. This interaction proceeded regardless of where Jordan stood next, with the energy between the fans and the band simply unmatched. It reached its peak within 'All Downhill From Here' as the room all but exploded.
A large theme of the night was cherishing New Found Glory's OG fans, the millennials if you will. The band extended their thanks for the perseverance to come out on a Tuesday night, and looked in astonishment as mini mosh pits began to form! Their legacy is something that remains largely intertwined with Australia's history- from Soundwave Festival to special guest appearances, and one thing the band did promise, is that it won't take them eight years to come back again.
The setlist itself was a showstopping mix of the band's insane cataloge, as well as some cheeky covers that really saw the crowd get moving. Despite the high energy, there was a note of sombreness in the room as New Found Glory opened up about Chad Gilbert, who was unable to make this tour due to his health complications and enduring battle with cancer. In his place was none other than Four Year Strong guitarist (and bearded broseph) Dan O'Connor who did a stellar job. Warmly, they encouraged all fans to send messages of love and support, and reminded the room that if anyone could kick cancers ass- it would, of course, be Chad! These last few dances were for him.
Acting as one of New Found Glory's final tours of the year, this gig was sure to be a memorable one for the band and punters alike. With an energy that seemed conjured from the band's earliest days, The Station was caught in a wave of heavy nostalgia and fun. This is a band that still has it, and certainly, never lost it!
