...Someone who is going to be covering the 2019 UNIFY Gathering Festival for us, alongside their best mate + get the chance to interview some of the many bands on the lineup. We had a whole stack of entries for this opportunity, and the votes for the final 5 potential interns came through fast when we launched them last Monday, which resulted in the leader of the competition changing three times during the course of the week, so it really was anyone's game but in the end, it was between Kaihlin, Adam, Tam, Nikki-Lee and Kellie...

ADAM RICE!!!

Adam WoS Intern Finalist

Adam has become the first UNIFY Intern who won the competition by collecting 38.4% of the votes. He was followed very closely by Kaihlin with 27.4%, Tam had 13.5%, Nikki-Lee 12.7% and Kellie on 8%. A massive congratulations to not only Adam for his prize, but to his fellow competitors who showed great sportsman...errr sportswomanship and were so encouraging of each other during the entirety of the competition... so much so we're going to take them all on board and give them a crack at contributing with us here at Wall of Sound. They all possessed such keen and eager passion for heavy music and live events and we can't wait to see what else they can bring to the table. So well done to everyone involved and keep your eyes peeled for their first assignments in the coming months.

But, we had to chat with Adam about his win and find out a bit more from the guy...

Congratulations Adam you're the first ever Wall of Sound UNIFY Intern, bet you're stoked?!

I'm over the moon, this is such an exciting opportunity to display my passion and enthusiasm for heavy music!

You took out a whopping 38.4% of the votes, how many friends and family members do you owe money to for voting for you? haha

38.4%?! Wow, I'm blown away. That's huge! Haha thankfully I don't think anyone expects money but I do owe a fair few favours to certain people for sharing it around to all of their friends and family!

The next big step is heading down to UNIFY to cover the event for us and interview some bands, have you got any burning questions for a particular band or is there one you can't wait to rub shoulders with?

Absolutely! I'm excited to ask the likes of Ocean Sleeper and Saviour about their upcoming albums, as well as to find out whether there is a future for Hand of Mercy once UNIFY '19 is over. That's all I'm going to say, I don't want to give too much away! I would also love to rub shoulders with Trophy Eyes, Hellions, In Hearts Wake, Ocean Grove, Deam On Dreamer, Underoath and Every Time I Die. I'm huge fans of them all and to be able to meet them all at a setting like UNIFY would be unreal to say the least.

While its topical let's find out from you (so we can get more of an insight to your tastes and opinions) who you think should have won the ARIA for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album the other night?

To be honest I'm pretty on the fence between The Mortal Coil by Polaris and Reverence by Parkway Drive. In my eyes, they are both incredible albums that both deserved recognition from the whole of the Australian music industry and beyond.

You've got a gruelling few days ahead in January, what are you going to do to prepare yourself for the onslaught?

Well I'm definitely going to be doing my homework on all the bands I get to interview so that I get the most out of my interactions with them for all of Wall of Sound's followers. Might even do a few practice interviews in the mirror! Haha

There's an image hahaha anything else to add for those who helped you get here?

Just that I want to thank each and every person that voted for me, I can't express my gratitude enough. This is an unbelievable opportunity and I am going to give it 100%

See you at Unify Gathering '19

Yes you will mate, yes you will.
