It's been another great year working alongside Australia's best music journalists and photographers on the Wall of Sound team. This year I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to hone in on my skills at major events such as UNIFY Forever, Full Tilt and Good Things Festival, which has been nothing short of an honour and a privilege.

I've been on this crazy path of pursuing music journalism with Wall of Sound for four years now and I still pinch myself over the opportunities that I'm presented with, just for giving it a go. Like somehow something that I wrote is published in a Digi-mag! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that might be something that becomes a reality. My heart is filled with nothing but love for the Wall of Sound team and the readers that keep this dream alive. I'm looking forward to many more successful years being a part of this amazing publication.

FAVOURITE CONTRIBUTION YOU PRODUCED?

It's been around three months now and I still find myself trying to process the fact that a member of the almighty Slipknot took the time to sit down and have a one-on-one conversation with me about what the nine-masked metal juggernauts have been up to, but also about Australia's thriving music scene, which is a topic that I cherish immeasurably.

Check out the interview here.

FAV NEW BAND/MUSICIAN DISCOVERED IN 2022

Diesect

I always find myself keeping a close eye on up-and-coming metalcore and deathcore acts from our glorious country, and although I discovered an abundance of new talent, this Gold Coast collective has stood out from the rest. Unfortunately, I am yet to catch them perform, but when I get the chance I will be there headbanging in the front row!

NEXT BIG AUSSIE ACT TO WATCH IN 2023

To The Grave

Capping off 2021 by performing at Knight and Day, this deathcore group launched into 2022 by hitting the studio and recording an album while sparing some time to perform on big stages at CVLTFEST and Good Things. The Sydney-based five-piece are currently preparing for their first European tour with Shadow of Intent next month and are due to drop their new album in February. If I was a betting man, I'd be putting money on these guys to blow up massively once this new album reaches the masses.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2023

2023 is already shaping up to be an insane year with Thy Art is Murder's Ten Years of HATE anniversary tour, which happens to have one of the best tour packages I have ever seen. Australia's Knotfest debut and many more exciting things that are in the works. Big changes within my personal life are planned to take effect in 2023, which will ultimately affect my role at Wall of Sound, nevertheless, I will continue to contribute as often as I can, to the high standard that Wall of Sound readers have come to expect.
