When lives gives you lemons (or in the world's case, covid) you knuckle down and create music. As much as you can, so that when the world reopens you're ready to go guns blazing into the sunset showcasing your material for the world.

That's the mentality behind Sydney prog heroes Intrøspect who released their Ad Astra EP back in 2019 before the pandemic took over the world, but, they used their time in isolation to produce its follow up release Midnight Sun which saw the light of day back in March and the band even go to perform a SOLD OUT headline show in support of its release.

What's next for the five-piece? Well frontwoman Felicity Jayne joins us to not only drop a huge hint, but to reflect on her fav releases of the year that was...

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT RETURNING TO THE STAGE?

Honestly, I don’t know if I/we can call it “returning” considering we released our first record (Ad Astra) then covid hit. So we wrote and released another record in the lockdown (Midnight Sun). We released that, then lockdown hit again! We have 2 full records absolutely burning within us to come to life and get some serious stage time. The handful of shows we were lucky enough to do, were absolutely mental and without a doubt the best nights of our lives.

How do I feel? Like I cannot wait another second to get back up there and provide the real experience of these tracks with everyone!!!

HOW DID YOU STAY BUSY THROUGHOUT THE PAST TWO YEARS?

Apart from writing and releasing Midnight Sun with the boys (as mentioned above) I was very fortunate to keep my full-time employment with Røde. Not only did I continue to work, it was absolutely nuts busy. Who would have thought when the world shuts down, everyone would need a Microphone??! I also spent a lot of time smashing out a ton of Netflix series with Kella (my bearded dragon). Basketball and Hockey usually takes up all that time, so it was a pretty nice trade off.

BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2022?

Be in the moment as much as possible. Appreciate everything you have. Remember the long-lost skill of applying gratitude when shit gets hectic. Go to the dog beach and pat as many doggos as you can. Go and support your local music and arts scene. Eat tacos. Drink Beer.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2022?

GIGS. SO. MANY. GIGS!!!! The whole band is celebrating the return of live music by hitting the road and traveling to VIC for Knight and Day Festival over new years. Following that, we have our first ever Aus Tour in the works for Introspect during March/April (you heard it here first!) Lets bloody go!!
