It's been five years since Avenged Sevenfold released their album The Stage, but they've continued their tradition of releasing The Misfits covers on Halloween. This year, they've gone with Last Caress, releasing the track and video exclusively via YouTube. Hopefully the release of this cover means that a new record is on the way (M Shadows and Johnny Christ may have hinted at new music on Johnny's podcast Drinks With Johnny this week), and we'll be hearing some new music from the quintet in the near future!
On the track, the band have commented:
"Hello Boils and Ghouls. Last year a few of us gave you a cover of 'Hybrid Moments' by The Misfits. We have so much fun that we wanted to keep the tradition alive this Halloween with one 'Last Caress'".
It features Zacky Vengeance on vocals and guitar, Johnny Christ on bass, and Brooks Wackerman on drums. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love M Shadows' voice, but there's something about Vengeance's vocals that just hit in the feels and the cover has been done with the utmost respect to the original and it's pretty bloody great!
