It's always a great time when Bring Me The Horizon release new material - because as history proves it, we never know what we're going to get with the Sheffield lads.
Following on from the release of their radio-friendly singles 'DiE4u', 'sTrAnGeRs' and the heavy rendition of Ed Sheeran's 'Bad Habits', BMTH delivers 'LosT' - which is a clusterfuck (in a good way) of genres mashed together, resulting in an uptempo jam that has frontman Oli Sykes singing and screaming his way through music you'd be mistaken for thinking was something mainstream media would lose their minds over. It kinda reminds me of a heavier version of Machine Gun Kelly's collaboration with Oli on 'maybe' - only this won't be as easily forgettable.
When we caught up with Sykes prior to their headline slot at Good Things Festival 2022, he explained the band were conscious of their role as a rock act, but they wanted to test the boundaries of expectations:
“We are a rock band and I’m not saying that we can’t push the boundaries, because that’s what we’re about. I guess I’ve kind of accepted and also sympathised with fans that we are a rock band, and if we lose that element of us, it’s not what people signed up for.”
For the naysayers, it still has all the staple BMTH bits and bobs to it, including screams, a tasty breakdown and jarring riffs-a-plenty, and it sounds so uniquely like them - proving they truly are innovative trailblazers of the scene (nay industry) right now.

Last week, we got to sit in on a listening session for the new track where keyboardist/percussionist/vocalist Jordan Fish explained the band were looking in different places for inspiration and cited the likes of My Chemical Romance, The Used, 100gecs, The Strokes and upbeat music behind the conception of 'LosT', whilst exploring other elements of heavy music, namely bands within the post-hardcore genre.
Fish also shed light on the band's upcoming sequel to 2020's monster return-to-form album POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR (our review here), stating they were still 'plodding away' on the music and that the next entry was looking likely to be about '10 songs in total', one of which was 'a heavy track with a special guest or two'. Despite originally stating the POST HUMAN series would be EPs, the band seem to be resting on ten songs for each offering, which places it within the album realm.
We don't mind though, any new material from this band is always going to turn heads, and we cannot wait to see what else they've got in store for fans.
