Take Two: Turnstile Release Double Header ‘SEEIN’ STARS/ BIRDS’ From Upcoming Album

Turnstile summer (winter, autumn, and spring) is here! 

Set to release on June 6th, Turnstile have today dropped a two-headed taste of their upcoming album, NEVER ENOUGH. Jarringly different to one another, but so purely Turnstile, the band continues to assert their powerful and overbearing presence that funnels through the veins of many different scenes. 

The first track, ‘SEEIN’ STARS’, opens with a strong 80s vibe, reminiscent of the tonalities of David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’. Following in the steps of its predecessor, ‘NEVER ENOUGH’, ‘SEEIN’ STARS’ continues to foster the spacious and otherworldly consciousness the band has come to make their signature. The track channels a nostalgia through its familiar sounds, but its immense groove leads it straight back to the identifiable mastery of the Grammy-nominated band. A funk and powerful guitar takes the reins from Brendan Yates, finalising a colourful and hypnotizing performance. 

Swiftly, ‘BIRDS’ begins with an ominous and dark blur of sound, an anticipation that is audibly building with a depth that penetrates to your own sense of fear and waiting. As the drums enter, shudder, and dance, the same sense of darkness now lingers and lurks in our peripheries. Not before long, the silence is cut by an uproar, instrumentally and vocally. Charged with some of the same natures as Time and Space, the riffs in this song spill out, creating a beat that is instantly embedded into your brain. For many fans, ‘BIRDS’ is set to be a call back to arms, and a lifeline for those waiting patiently for a return to their older styles. Blending the past and fusing it with their fashionable flair, ‘BIRDS’ is the lovechild of a band with gratitude for their past, but with serious expectations about the development of their future.
