Former I Prevail Vocalist Brian Burkheiser Unleashes Cover Of Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' Under Scatterbrain

File this one under - wasn't expecting that - but former I Prevail vocalist Brian Burkheiser has released his first song under his new band, Scatterbrain - and it's the exact same way his old band broke out into  the music scene in 2014...

Brian has covered Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' which reflects when I Prevail first burst onto the heavy scene with their cover of 'Blank Space'. That cover put the Metalcore outfit on the map and the rest is history. IP announced they had parted ways with Burkheiser on May 15, 2025 and went on to release their fourth album Violent Nature back in September.

Meanwhile, Brian has been teasing fans with new music - which has been stalled from release due to contract issues connected to his former band and until he can release that first original song, he's heading back to where it all began, taking on Swifty's Reputation-era single, complete with a music video reflecting both Swift's original and key moments throughout his time with I Prevail.

Brian is handed a contract from a shady figure in Scatterbrain's music video for Swift cover.

It's intriguing and enticing enough to catch your attention and wonder what's going on between the two parties, but according to Brian, this cover resonated with his current situation and reflected how he first started his musical career.

"To my fans: This year forced me to pivot in ways I never expected, and it tested me more than I can explain.

But through it all, your support has meant everything. I'm excited to finally share a song with you. I chose this cover because it truly resonates with me and serves as a nod to what first sparked my career.

I'm still working toward the day I can release my original music

But for now, I'm grateful to have found a way to put a piece of art into the world."

What do you think? Big move or a failed launch?
