Since 2023, SOULSLEEP have been traversing through an abundance of wondrous musical landscapes. Shifting their sights between every new release, their journey so far has seen the band not merely dabble between genres, but cultivate elements from everything they touch to create a monolithic sense of identity- a signature sound of SOULSLEEP. The band’s latest release, ‘Never’, continues on this enlightening trend, offering our ears a hearty and vulnerable ballad so catastrophically inviting.
Without a moment to waste, Jake Wiffen’s delicate but impactful vocals glide upon broken piano notes- a fractured foundation urging for more. These layers make their way in with poise and sophistication, dancing within and between the vocals that conduct the sheer etherealness of this track. Of course, these emotions continue to bundle until a chorus that brings out all the stops- a thumping feat of drums and guitar as a catchy sentiment pours through within the lyrics.

"'Never' explores the internal conflict of someone deeply conscious of their shortcomings and faults in connection with another person. This individual feels immense pressure to evolve, aiming to become the version that those around them desire. Yet, they are confined by their own limitations and past missteps, making it exceedingly difficult to live up to these ideals. The repeated struggle to 'catch their breath' vividly illustrates the feeling of being overwhelmed and stifled by these demands and emotional weights."
