Magic Dirt reuniting for Hotter Than Hell 2019

Last year the Hotter Than Hell Tour proved Australian bands from the late 90's and early 2000's still, to this day, have a huge following of fans who are keen as fuck to still check them out all these years later, so much so the festival is returning for 2019 and they've managed to bring a band out of retirement in the process, Magic Dirt!

Having last played shows together over a decade ago, Magic Dirt were hot property back in the day, they received a whopping 9 ARIA Award nominations and played (what seemed like) almost every Big Day Out festival imaginable. They also released 8 studio albums and 5 EPs, all of which were well received by the Australia public. In 2011 the band went on a hiatus following the passing of their bassist Dean Turner in 2009 who battled a rare form of tissue cancer for nine years. In a statement on their website, they band shared:

"For nine years, Dean battled an extremely rare form of soft tissue cancer called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP). This cancer became life-threatening after it began to metastasize and cause various fatal tumours. Being a very private man, Dean chose to fight the cancer in a quiet and dignified manner. He displayed great courage and incredible stoicism. And above all else he had an unshakeable, positive attitude throughout his long ordeal. His composure and grace during this time will never be forgotten and are an inspiration to us all."

It'll be great to see these icons back on stage again and no doubt we'll see a few tributes for their fallen brother and band mate.

Also joining the Dirt will be BodyjarSpiderbait, Jebediah, Shihad, Killing Heidi, 28 Days and Area 7, like last time, the lineups will change from show to show, but you can bet your sweet arse you'll have one hell of a time with some older, well respected bands from yesteryear again. At the moment there'll be shows in Townsville, Gladstone, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Mt Evelyn with more dates to be announced.

Tickets On Sale Wednesday July 4 at 10am via Website
