iocaste Drop Truth Bombs with New Single ‘ENVY’

We’ve kept an eye on Western Sydney upstarts iocaste, whether it’s been around the gig circuit or their first single ‘1095’. They’ve followed up that bone smasher with ‘ENVY’, a more introspective release that opens with a hellacious breakdown and never lets up.

Of course a breakdown by itself means little. The band have packed in tempo changes to speed it up before the breakdown returns and snatches your soul. Vocalist Ethan Karpathy is on fire, barking about absent fathers, waning mortality and the crushing burdens that can strengthen you. Inspired by the series Full Metal Alchemist, he leaves it all on tape for the song’s ending: "You won't want it, because once you have it you'll mean less than you did before".

New song fresh core in your life? Go no further.
