Get Around Basement League's Angsty New Track 'Rein Me In'
If you're all about the angsty, melodic side of pop punk, make way for UK five piece Basement League. These Brit upcomers are pulling at the anxiety that life throws at us and fusing them together into an incredibly catchy blend of contemporary pop punk.
'Rein Me In' is the band's first single from their forthcoming EP, Better Nights // Better Days and will have you taking a look and reflecting on your past mistakes. Kicking off with high energy riffs, you can just hear and relate to vocalist Cameron Percival's personal struggles through his fighting words. He reveals:
"'Rein Me In' was one of the first demos we completed in the first lockdown. Between unemployment, furlough and being stuck inside without shows, we were having a pretty rough time, and Rein Me In became the out for those frustrations. Lyrically, the song is presented as a breakup song, but actually looks at the marriage between someone's past and present self - and the impact that has on the life you want to live. Musically, this song ushers in the new era of Basement League and we wanted it to do that with a bang."
The song doesn't stray too far from some of our favourites like Trophy Eyes, Between You and Me and Boston Manor and shows the band's true potential with a nice breakdown towards the end there. Keep Basement League close to your ears as I feel like these guys are only getting started!
