Future Static Drop Empowering New Single 'Waves'

If you're into frenetic guitars and almost captivating vocals, look no further than Future Static. Much like their name suggests, this Melbourne-based outfit led by frontwoman Amariah Cook are paving the way for Australian emotive, progressive alternative metal and it's pretty evident with the band's latest single 'Waves'.

Amariah switches it up on this alluring track between vindictive screams and beautifully soaring moments, backed up by a djenty riff. Inspired by the whirlwind of experiences impacted by a global pandemic, the vocalist shares:

“The song resonates with many different experiences that we’ve all faced recently. From doing a whole lot of nothing, to then diving back into a fast-paced, relentless rhythm, with no certainty of anything going ahead. It’s all so overwhelming to even begin to think about. It feels like you're being submerged, drowning in an ocean, and you can’t get out, even though you know that all you have to do is sit up, breathe, and just feel the waves.”

Give it a few listens and you might be able to hear an uncanny similarity to Ukrainian metal outfit Jinjer. How intriguing. I wonder if this'll translate to their live performance on NYE at Knight and Day Festival? The band are set to open the festival on Day 2, and I'm sure they'll turn everyone's heads as they set that stage alight. Even more reason to kick off NYE festivities early!
