Fit For A King Explode with Lonely God Album Announce + Title-Track

Just when 2025 seemed to have guaranteed winners for Metal Album of the Year already tied up, modern Metalcore giants Fit For A King have announced their 6th studio album Lonely God set for release August 1st to blow the competition wide open. The band's first album since 2022’s The Hell We Create, FFAK have released the title track alongside the album's announcement following on from singles like 'No Tomorrow' and 'Technium'. And if it's anything to judge by its relentlessness, ‘Lonely God’ fills listeners with the comfort of knowing that the band's everlasting intensity is going nowhere, but will only continue to send FFAK into the stratosphere.
Whilst the year has already been a career making year for the Texas five piece having just wrapped a US National tour supporting Killswitch Engage (Alongside Kublai Khan TX and Frozen Soul) the band has found time to work with producer Daniel Braunstein [Spiritbox, Dayseeker, ERRA] to curate Lonely God. The new album doesn’t just possess Braunstein’s supersonic production levels, but also some of the biggest names in Metal leaving their marks. With Chris Motionless (Motionless in White) Lachie Keough (Alpha Wolf) and Landon Tewers (The Plot in You) all set to make appearances on this record, Metalcore fans should be paying very close attention to FFAK this coming August (Or even just in general)
A track that will be timeless in terms of its blunt message, FFAK launch an assault against positions that weaponised power against the world. Speaking further on the meaning of the 3 minute epic, vocalist Ryan Kirby says:
“You may have all of the power and be a 'God,' but it's a lonely spot because the world despises you."
Though the song falls into shorter length territory (clocking in at just over 3 minutes) every box you hope gets ticked when it comes to the Metal report card, sees it pass with a perfect score. As Kirby verbally assaults the ears (and the minds of the Lonely Gods) you hear Braunstein’s presence turning the pacing of atypical Metalcore into the fields of slight Industrial turmoil. And it’s not that atypical Metalcore isn’t exciting as proven by the slowing tempo leading into a two-step worthy breakdown to end the track; but the pushes further into different fields of Metal ensures that you’re left captivated by ‘Lonely God’ for its duration. There is something to say about the dualling guitar work of Bobby Lynge & Daniel Gailey here as well. While at times it is the driving, chugging force behind the track, there are moments where it steps away from following the standard rhythm, providing more of a breakdown pattern pulled straight from the DOOM soundtrack.
When it comes to the exploration of the rest of the album, Kirby says that Lonely God is “The result of us writing with no agendas... All five of us have our fingerprints on this album. We found a way to balance our voices. We've always been genuine with the lyrics, and that's the case again. There’s so much heart behind all of the instrumentation too. There’s definitely a lot of growth because our bond is tighter than ever."
Fit For a King will also be touring Australia supporting The Plot In You (with other special guests Boundaries and Banks Arcade) in January 2026. With Melbourne already sold out and other shows set to follow extremely soon, do not miss out on the extravaganza that kick starts the new year!
