Fit For A King Continue Quest for Album Of The Year Spot with 'Begin The Sacrifice'

The last time I spoke to you about Fit For A King, I mentioned that the band's new album was going to blow the heavy music album of the year out of the water. Well, the band have doubled down and taken the lead with 'Begin The Sacrifice', the latest single from forthcoming album Lonely God. The triumphant song comes complete with a borderline cinematic music video to accompany it and may not match the intensity of the aforementioned title track, but to say this is one of the most complete, awe-inspiring personal releases in the band’s entire discography would be an understatement.
"Thematically, you can think of it as a person who's ready to begin the sacrifice of himself for a greater cause, but there are a million things asking for his attention" - shared frontman Ryan Kirby.
The emphasis for 'Begin The Sacrifice' lies in Kirby's incredible vocal display (which you could honestly call one of the best of 2025) with its accompanying thematics which may trick listeners into being about the band's attachments to faith, however Kirby says it can be more related to the faith people put into absolutely anything.
"It's not necessarily religion. People are arguing about everything these days. So, it's easy to end up believing in nothing because you feel overwhelmed."
What you can believe however, is 'Being The Sacrifice' could stand atop a discography built off of a combination of infectious hooks, commanding chorus’s and non-sacrificial moments of heaviness that only intensifies this melodic masterpiece. As Kirby pushes his voice into the highest realms of screams throughout the chorus, the beauty of the verses' clean and polished approach over light spacious synth allows the moments of heavy to hit even harder.
If you’re listening and waiting for the hope that this isn’t just a standard melodic piece, then the breakdown sitting before the final chorus will absolutely hit the spot. But whatever you do, make sure you hear that final chorus. Just trust me on this. This is genuinely a song of the year candidate across all genres.
The album Lonely God releases August 1st via Solid State Records. Pre-order here
