Enter Shikari reveal The Mindsweep: Hospitalised

English rockers Enter Shikari (who we caught up with in the country a few months back) have revealed plans for a "collaborative remix" of their most recent release "The Mindsweep". Their whole album will be given a drum and bass touch up by artists on Hospital Records line up.

The band stated on their website:

Like the title suggests, its the entire ‘THE MINDSWEEP’ album, remixed by artists from the Hospital roster. As fans of Hospital’s output for a long time now, we’re really excited about this, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.
You can hear ‘ANAESTHETIST [RESO REMIX]‘ and, thanks to Mike Tyler who’s ‘remixed’ the video he directed for us for the original track, you have something awesome to look at too.

Now, while the idea of blending a heavy "core" album with a dance track backing isn't new to the genre (remember Bring Me The Horizon's "Suicide Silence Cut Up") it does give fans of drum and bass/electronic music the chance to be exposed to the much better side of the genre cross over, therefore increasing the band's profile and fanbase.

The whole idea for me brings back memories of Linkin Park's "Reanimation" album which featured guest artists like Jay Gordon of Orgy, Korn's Jonathan Davis and Josh Abraham (just to name a few) remixing songs from their hugely successful album "Hybrid Theory" and surprisingly it worked so well it set Linkin Park up as a band that can't be pigeon holed into one specific genre.

So whether you're looking for something different to spark your interest with the genre, or maybe there is no way in hell you'd ever be caught listening to a genre cross-over album like the above mentioned, it goes to show bands are trying different things to evolve and progress further then they could have imagined. For those interested, the new Enter Shikari album The Mindsweep: Hospitalised will be released October 30th and Pre-Orders are now being taken here. Until then take a listen to a sample of what you can expect on the album below.

Until next time though, rave the fuck out?

(Na, doesn't have the same ring to it)
