Deafheaven Return with Ambient Track 'Great Mass of Color' + Announce New Album

Post-metal extraordinaires Deafheaven have released a new track overnight titled 'Great Mass of Color' and announced their upcoming album Infinite Granite, set for release on 20 August 2021.  It's been a decent three years since the Californian band released their studio record Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, and it was an absolutely amazing album, so we're excited to hear what George and the boys have in store for us.

Interestingly, the earthy references of the album title Infinite Granite is a bit of a reminder of the title of their Ordinary Corrupt Human Love b-side release, namely a track titled 'Black Brick' which the band told us about at a Melbourne headliner a few years ago, just hours before they released it globally. We're hoping there may be some 'sedimentary' references on the next song perhaps?

Deafheaven returns with 6-minute song 'Great Mass of Color' which may not sound like you may have expected it to. The band continue on with the evolving sound they explored on their previous album, where they tried out a few ambient sounds, and seem to have solidified it and accentuated it even further on this new record - especially if their debut single is anything to go by.

Vocalist George Clarke demonstrates some incredible clean vocal notes, particularly given how highly we utterly respect his demonic roar. The song changes pace and weaves in and out with slightly different rhythms. Don't sleep on this track, and make sure you wait until the closing minute, where you may hear a glimpse of the heavier side of the almighty Deafheaven. 

It's obviously really exciting to see Deafheaven finally kick off a new album campaign, and we cannot wait to hear what else the metal titans have in store for us.
