Crossfaith Unveil 'Gimme Danger' Single Featuring Japanese Rapper Ralph

Our favourite Japanese metalcore outfit Crossfaith are back in full force with brand new single 'Gimme Danger'. Last year, we heard a number of singles from the Osaka band, like 'Feel Alive' and 'RedZone', and before that we were hypnotised by their EDM EP SPECIES (our review here), but it's been nearly four years since their last full-length record Ex_Machina (our review here).

After these standalone releases, enter 2022, and the six-piece are back with a vengeance, let's take a look at 'Gimme Danger' feat. Japanese rapper Ralph. It's great to hear some immediate chugging, and not all electro (as it's felt a bit like these guys may have been coming to the head of a genre crossroads).

Ralph bounces in early alongside vocalist Kenta Koie's signature metalcore style. A massive build-up ensues, leading to a splattering synth-packed breakdown, which includes Ralph. It's cool to hear a featured artist across a track like this, as opposed to the standard ten-seconds usually allotted, as well as hearing Crossfaith channel their metalcore roots.

Here's what Koie commented on 'Gimme Danger':

We decided to write new music to heal people and boost their minds. We still can't play live, but we can deliver new music to our fans and I’m pretty sure that is our role under these circumstances.

“On 'Gimme Danger' we welcome Ralph, an upcoming rapper who has the essence of grime. We feel a real chemistry, and our fans can catch new feelings with it. Those moments where people have a new experience are more important than just making music – we want to achieve something which we haven't figured out already, so our exploring will keep going.”
