The Weigh-Up: Jackson MDK Pro Plus Evertune 7 (Gear Review)
.webp)
The Jackson MDK Pro Plus Evertune 7 is a modern guitar designed for players who demand precision, tuning stability and tone without compromise. Combining cutting-edge hardware with modern aesthetics, the MDK series stands out as one of the most dialed-in instruments in Jackson’s Pro Plus lineup purpose-built for aggressive modern playing styles but versatile enough to handle an array of genres.
Currently coming in at $3,149 AUD RRP, I wouldn’t exactly call this a budget-tier instrument however in saying that, the moment you sit down with this guitar it’s very clear every cent has been invested into its quality, performance, and reliability. This is a professional grade tool for serious players who value functionality as much as feel, a true testament to the modern guitarist.
Purpose-Built Perfection
The MDK 7 features a basswood body with an unreal gold sparkle gloss finish, delivering an exciting visual identity that pops under stage lights. The bolt-on 3-piece maple/wenge neck reinforced with a graphite rod ensures strength and long-term stability especially critical in a 7-string guitar where neck tension and tuning accuracy are constantly under pressure. This neck has been a highlight for me personally from the very first tour I ever got it out on, I rarely touch the truss rod its rock solid!
The ebony fretboard sports a 12"–16" compound radius with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets. Whether you're ripping solos or holding down huge riffs the playability here is absolutely dialed-in. The truss rod adjustment at the heel makes setup tweaks simple and practical especially mid show (which has never happened mind you).

Sound That Doesn’t Flinch
At the heart of the MDK’s sound are a pair of Fishman Fluence Open Core pickups, delivering an impressively broad tonal palette. These aren’t your average high-output pickups - I found these to be quite diverse and extremely capable of anything they’re tasked to.
And of course, the standout feature - the Evertune bridge. This I can ramble on for waaay too long but I’ll be mindful. Once set up, it maintains perfect tuning and intonation across the entire neck, no matter how hard you dig in or whatever climate you’re in. It’s the kind of consistency that almost feels unreal, a literal cheat code. Touring this bridge has only shown me tour after tour why I simply cannot tour without them, if you haven’t tried one yet and you’re interested - this guitar is a standout option!

The Bits & Pieces
The control layout is relatively simple: just a single volume knob and a tone knob push-pull for voicings offering tonal flexibility. Other additions like Luminlay side dots, Gotoh locking tuners, and the sleek reverse AT-1 headstock all reinforce this guitar's modern edge approach and premium feel.
Final Word
The Jackson MDK Pro Plus Evertune 7 is a standout in the high-performance 7-string space. It’s built for precision, designed for reliability, and made to perform night after night, session after session. The combination of Fishman Fluence pickups, Evertune stability, and playability-first design makes this an ideal instrument for players who want zero compromise and just want to lock in.
Sure, the control layout could be freed up more but in all honesty, what’s here works so efficiently and effectively that nothing feels missing. This is an unreal addition to Jackson’s stacked lineup of guitars and I for one am extremely excited to see what comes next with this range!
