At Wall Of Sound, we like to be on top of whoever is killing it on top of the heavy/alternative scene, but every now and again, there are bands out there that are making quite a name for themselves in other musical arenas. The first time I came across Chase Atlantic was on the one and only Warped Rewind At Sea cruise back in 2017, and since then have made a pretty big following mainly in the US but they did get on the last Download Festival lineup over here. With a brand new album, Phases, and the fact they've managed to sell most of this tour out, I decided to go see how much Chase Atlantic have grown and improved since 2017.

The line into the Brightside on Thursday night reached to the end of the street, full of energy and keen fans. The Brightside was buzzing, and it was a vibe I hadn't felt or seen in years (mainly because I felt old as fuck in there!). The opener for the night was Australian R&B/hip hop artist Xavier Mayne, who did a pretty decent job of hyping the crowd even more for the headliners.

Now, the thing with Chase Atlantic that piqued my interest is not just their ties or mentorship with Good Charlotte's Joel & Benji Madden. The trio hailing from Cairns are under the twins' MDDN management label. But what impressed me the most is that as soon as these guys jumped on stage, Chase Atlantic are a full band, playing alternative/pop/R&B infused music, and there was not a DJ or laptop in sight. The band showcased tracks from their current release, including the track 'Angels' which has become my personal favourite from Phases. This song has an undeniably catchy pop beat that'll stick with you for days. The guys also played old favourites 'Friends' and 'Swim', however what kinda let me down is not hearing my favourite Chase Atlantic song 'Into It' as part of the night's setlist. Besides that though, the night was exciting, sweaty and the band had everyone up on their feet.

For a band that's not heavily on the rock side, they've still managed to pull off quite a huge stage presence and a fan base that's constantly growing in popularity. Chase Atlantic are a name worth watching as these guys continue to grow in size with the next generation of music fans in Australia and around the world. Let's just hope they continue to keep the instruments on stage.
