Ad Complementum (Latin): “towards completion” — a phrase that suggests something long in the making is finally nearing its end.
It’s been a long, long wait for global fans of Perth’s mighty Karnivool. They made us wait four years between the release of the first and second, and then second and third, records. This time, it’s been . . . wait for it . . . no less than triple that since the release of the third album, Asymmetry, and now. Yep, it’s been twelve long years. Now, is their fourth record drawing close to completion? They made a social media post recently as well, suggesting something similar. But both that and their presser for this upcoming tour didn’t go as far as stating anything definitively.
Is it really happening, or are they just teasing us in their typically Vooligan mysterious and enigmatic style? Whatever the case, the tour is an extensive one, running for three months and taking in every mainland state and territory (minus the NT) and the often-jilted Apple Isle (in fact, Hobart is where it all kicks off.) There will be ‘new material’ played, and apparently re-worked classic older material.
Will there be a new, full-blooded release from the ‘Vool this year? Only time will tell. But the signs are very, very good.
