At the start of the year, Dream Theater released their highly anticipated album Parasomnia unto the world and when we spoke about it with guitarist John Petrucci, he alluded an Australian return was on the cards... fast forward 7 months and it's finally been revealed the band will be heading down under again for a February East Coast + Adelaide visit (sorry Perth) and the best part is returning drummer Mike Portnoy will once again be bashing away on the skins.
The band - consisting of Portnoy and Petrucci alongside vocalist James LaBrie, bassist John Myung, and keyboardist Jordan Rudess will kick off festivities in RADelaide at the Hindley Street Music Hall on Feb 10th before stopping into Melb's MC Arena on the 12th, Sydney's ICC Theatre on Valentine's Day and wrapping up at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on the 15th of February.
On the news, the band shares:
“The excitement we have felt from the fans since the first leg of this tour was announced has been overwhelming! Now we get to bring the show to our fans all across the world, and play a bunch of cities that we haven’t been together in for more than a decade. We can’t wait to continue this historic celebration of 40 years together with everyone in Asia and Australia next year. We still have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming weeks,”
Here's hoping some kick ass Aussie prog like Caligula's Horse will be added to the lineup in due course - until then, you now what to do...
