Australia’s deathcore kings have had a standout year in 2024, flying all around the world and playing shows in front millions in the process. Following on from the release of last year’s album Godlike, and on top of their latest single ‘Through Blood I Purify‘, the outfit also tore up Australian shows and proved the best and heaviest bands reign from the land down under.
We caught up with drummer Jesse Beahler to take us through his fav releases, shows and more in our Year In Review…

WHICH AUSTRALIAN BAND DO YOU HAVE ON REPEAT?
Psycroptic, obviously. This band is a non-stop source of enjoyment and influence to me. They’ve been one of my favorites for over a decade. Joe & Dave Haley are both respective wizards on their instruments & I love the way they write songs. They always get me way too hyped up. Psycroptic is one of the few bands where I know every single album. Huge respect to those guys for carving a path for Aussie Extreme Metal!! They’ll always be my favorite Australian band.
BEST GIG YOU PLAYED THIS YEAR AND WHY?
My favorite gig was probably Graspop, in Belgium. The overall vibe was amazing. It was a perfect sunny day seeing tons of bands that I love. Followed up by an insane show right after the sun went down! It was such a great crowd, and that always generates a lot of energy from us in the band. The entire team was on point, and it created a fantastic show that I will always remember.
TELL US ABOUT A SURREAL CAREER HIGHLIGHT YOU HAD IN 2024
In 2024 I had my second opportunity to tour the massive festival circuit in Europe. This year we did June/July which is when some of the biggest festivals take place. I got to perform at Rock am Ring & Rock Im Park, which have a combined attendance of over 150,000 people. Walking out onto those huge stages is the definition of Surreal, for a touring musician anyway. Another dreamlike moment; supporting Parkway Drive on the debut of their own festival Park Waves, in Dresden, Germany. We performed right after a huge rainstorm had just torn the stage apart, the chaos from that show was definitely unlike anything else.
WHAT WAS THE RECEPTION LIKE FOR YOUR NEW MATERIAL?
Thy Art released our newest album Godlike in October of 2023. I personally feel like the reception has been great! We put effort into curating the songs to work well in a live setting, and this has come across in spades for us this year. You can really feel the big hooks and choruses at the shows, and that translates to a more connected experience with our fans. I think it was our biggest touring cycle to date, and its been a pleasure to play these songs for more people than ever before.
ANY SNEAK PEEKS OF INBOUND PLANS NEXT YEAR?
Get hyped for our 9 week European run with legends Parkway Drive & The Amity Affliction! It’s gonna be an intense tour playing direct support for one of the biggest metal bands in the world. We’re working on our biggest & best production ever. If you have the chance to come to these shows, you’re not gonna want to miss it.
BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2025?
I’m so bad at giving advice. I mean, there are so many ways you could view this life. I think there’s room for everyone to express themselves. The only path you have is to be yourself, and you’ll end up exactly where you are supposed to be. So, I guess just try and enjoy it, if you feel like it.
