It was a year of ups and downs for UK death metallers Ingested who dropped their 8th studio album The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams upon the world in April, announced longtime founding member/vocalist Jason ‘Jay’ Evans‘ departure in November before revealing his replacement Josh Davies in the middle of last month.

Not one to slow things down, we caught up with guitarist/vocalist Sean Hynes to find out the music that got him through with the next #WoSYearinReview

WHICH AUSTRALIAN BAND DO YOU HAVE ON REPEAT?

Honestly I’m still jamming Aversions Crown, hoping they come back active again so we get some new material. I also wanna mention Melancolia who are a great up and coming band!

BEST GIG YOU PLAYED THIS YEAR AND WHY?

We headlined The Underworld in London when we did our album release tour for The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams and it was absolutely nuts. Real intimate so the energy was off the scale, stage dives and pits non stop. Definitely a highlight this year.

TELL US ABOUT A SURREAL CAREER HIGHLIGHT YOU HAD IN 2024

I’d probably have to mention the change in lineup, not something we were expecting and it’s definitely a talking point within our fanbase. Having the same singer for 18 years and then the sudden change certainly is surreal.

WHAT WAS THE RECEPTION LIKE FOR YOUR NEW MATERIAL?

Obviously we took some risks with some of the choices on the album like clean singing etc, but everything has been really positive. We had impressive metrics digitally around and after the release, and the reviews from publications were virtually all positive too. It’s been very rewarding.

ANY SNEAK PEEKS OF INBOUND PLANS NEXT YEAR?

Well, with the change in lineup, you’ll be hearing new music much earlier than you’d expect. We have a tour already announced with Aborted, a few off shows here and there and much more in the pipeline that I can’t talk about just yet. As always we will be very busy!

BEST ADVICE GOING INTO 2025?

Know your worth, be relentless with your passion and vision and keep the hardest workers around you.
